Sleep Medicine Services Now Offered at Mesa View Regional Hospital
Mesa View Regional Hospital recently announced that Sleep Medicine services including sleep studies are now available right here in Mesquite at the hospital!
“We are pleased to announce the addition of two Sleep Medicine professionals to our medical staff,” said Ned Hill, CEO for Mesa View. “We welcome Robert Pearson, MD who is board certified in Sleep Disorders Medicine and serves as Medical Director for the new Sleep Medicine Program. “We also welcome George W. Rodway, APRN, PhD. George comes to us equipped with extensive knowledge in sleep disorders medicine through his sleep related research and clinical activities.
“Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) remains the most common sleep disorder seen by our providers,” said Dr. Pearson. “It is estimated by the American Sleep Association that approximately 80% of OSA patients remain undiagnosed throughout their life. The major predisposing factor is excess body weight. Common symptoms include; un-refreshing sleep, daytime sleepiness, snoring, breathing interruptions or gasping and choking sounds during sleep. Systemic hypertension is a common finding in patients with OSA and sleep apnea is frequently observed in patients with coronary heart disease, atrial fibrillation, stroke and Type 2 diabetes,”

Patients referred to the Mesa View Sleep Medicine program receive a comprehensive sleep evaluation conveniently offered in the hospital right here in Mesquite! Additionally the program provides comprehensive education, monitoring and adherence programs for patients who require CPAP therapy.
We have the ability to monitor compliance and ensure early intervention, which is critical to achieving effective treatment. We also work with patients who have been unsuccessful with CPAP therapy in the past.
Dr. Pearson and George Rodway, APRN are both independent members of the medical staff for Mesa View Regional Hospital.
